Description:
A Chinese inscribed lacquered wood table screen, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), circa 16th/17th century, decorated with precious antique objects to one side in red against black lacquer highlighted with gilding, the ground of crushed abalone shell, the other side carved deeply with a fourteen character poetic inscription together with two carved seal marks, the poem reading as 'Gui Mei Shan Zhong Bai Ri Chang tao Hua tan Shui bi Sha Xiang' (the days are so long in the mountains of laurel and plum, yet the water of peach blossom pond is so blue and fragrant), by Zhu Yunming (1460-1527). The base carved and decorated with black and red polychrome, 36 cm high, 19 cm wide, 9.5 cm deep
