A pair of Chinese famille rose dragon and butterfly dishes, Guangxu mark and period (1875-1908), decorated to the centre with a forward facing dragon with five claws in iron red surrounded by clouds and flames, chasing a flaming pearl, surrounded by delicately painted butterflies of different species, the rim decorated with four shaped reserves with flowers and precious objects, against a scrolling double gourd pattern ground. The reverse with a six character mark in regular script for Guangxu in iron red, each 3 cm high, 24.5 cm diameter. Provenance: gifted to the parents of the current owner while living in Hong Kong in the 1980s.
