A Louis XV giltwood pier mirror, French Provencal, early-18th century, in the palatial style, carved gesso boarders elaborately decorated with a framework of foliate, c-scrolls and rocaille, with outset shoulders of acanthus and flowers, the apron similarly formed and flanked by short scroll supports. In the early-18th century, split paned mirror glass was used as the technology hadn't advanced to make large mirror panes at the time. 183 x 83.5 cm
