A very fine Louis XV commode, Parisian manufactured in matched fruitwood veneer, possibly olivewood. The D-shaped top elaborately crossbanded, masterly crafted with graduating tones and with central medallion, the ends with half-circle motifs. The commode bombe-shaped with serpentine fronted drawers, both the sides and drawers crossbanded with chamfered mounts. Each fitted with gilt bronze drop handles fashioned in the form of bird claws, decorated with masks and acanthus scrolls. Also with cartouche shaped keyhole escutcheons with shells, above a shaped apron with shell motif flanked scrolling acanthus decoration, the legs with foliate and acanthus mounts. The sides decorated with elaborate gilt bronze mounts with masks, scrolling floral and foliate pierced decoration.
