Julian Hooper, Pioneer Gunboat, oil on canvas, title inscribed, signed and dated '97 verso (twice), 152 cm x 152 cm. Provenance: Chris Beeby,distinguished Nz diplomat and international lawyer, bought the work from Gregory Flint Gallery in 1998. It is one of a series of paintings titled Capturing the Landscape. This series includes Taranaki (collection of University of Auckland) and Forest Rangers (collection of Te Papa Tongarewa, The Museum of New Zealand) and Ohaeawai (collection of Wallace Arts Trust). All other works in the series were purchased by private collectors. There are nine paintings in the series, all oil on canvas and the same dimension.
