A rare 17th century brass lantern clock by Peter Closon, Neere Holborne Bridge Londini Fecit, c.1660, with strapped bell over three dolphin frets and four urn finials, tapering Doric corner columns on turned feet, oversailing silvered Roman chapter ring enclosing engraved tulip decoration, alarm setting disc and single hour hand, hinged side panels, original weight driven balance wheel movement, alarm wheel outside back panel (lacking rope and weight), height 40 cm (15¾'). A well regarded maker, an uncommonly found original unconverted mechanism and in unrestored condition. Provenance: The Williamson Estate Collection.
