An important Australian Cauldon oval porcelain plaque with hand painted wattle, signed: L. Bilton, circa 1890, height 36 cm, diameter 44 cm, other notes: china painters often purchased blank plaques and painted in thier own time. Bilton came to Australia in the early 1800's and was the only Staffordshire painter to visit Australia. He helped illustrate the picturesque atlas of Australasia published in 1886.
