A silver gilt cloisonne enamel kovsh, drinking vessel, an impressed mark Gk 84, of Gustav Klingert, 1829-1917, Moscow, Russia the oval bowl on ball feet with a raised handle, enamelled with a swan & scrolling flower motifs in turquoise, blue & green on a white ground, note: Gustav Klingert set up silver workshops with his four Sons in Moscow in 1865. Originally the Kovsh was made from wood and used to serve & drink mead, with specimens excavated from the tenth century, height 9 cm, diameter 6.5 cm
