David Deuchar [1743 - 1808] 'A collection of etchings after the most Eminent Masters of the Dutch and Flemish Schools, particularly Rembrandt, Ostade, Cornelius, Bega, and Van Vliet. Accompanied with sundry miscellaneous pieces and a few original designs by Davd. Deuchar, seal engraver, Edinburgh.' [Late 19th/early 20th Century] Blue cloth boards with leather spine; gilt titles; decorated endpapers. With 220+ etchings with the title in a floral border, etching opposite title (as frontispiece) and last advertisement-etching: 'David Deuchar, Lapidary, Edinburgh. cuts and sels al sorts of fine stones, seals, picture, Nb sels emery rottenston &c.'. A nice collection, with many etchings from Rembrandt, in various sizes. Almost all known copies have a different number of plates; all are rare.
