Pair of George IV sterling silver figural candle sticks, hallmarked Sheffield, 1823-24, SR Gc & Co (Samuel Roberts, George Cadman & Co) in the form of classical maidens in draping gowns, with both arms raised to hold an acanthus and floral wreath, resting on a quatrefoil base with paw feet, accented with floral motifs, with s/p bases and sconces, height 34.5 cm. Provenance: Purchased in the early 1970's by the vendor's father from the Managing Director of Hamilton & Company (renowned Colonial silversmith)
