Garnet Campbell (Garth) Chester (1915-1968) dining suite, a teak laminate dining table with bent steel rod 'spanlegs' (135 cm x 80 cm x 70 cm) and four dining chairs with vinyl upholstered seats and backs on bent steel rod legs and single rod back spine. The table with chamfered edge, original label affixed (Designed and Made by Garth Chester Ltd, 32 France Street, Auckland). The suite purchased by our vendors parents c.1962 from the France Street address (now Mercury Lane). An earlier variant of this table and the three legged 'bikini' chairs in Te Papa's collection.
