Chinese late Qing Dynasty child's Amulet wind hat, c.1890, in purple silk, adorned with amulets of the eight immortals across the forehead and a central amulet of the God of longevity, below a band of animal hair, amulets of animals over the ears and bells along the base, embroidered overall with flowers in tones of pink and cream, height 41 cm catalogue note: the animal hair was to confuse evil spirits into thinking the child was an animal and so would be protected.
