Ladies Qing Dynasty rank badge handbag, c.1870 of square form, made from two rank badges, set with a central civil rank Mandarin duck, surrounded by precious items and fret work ground above a wave scroll, in tones of gold, blue, green, white and black, 28 cm x 29 cm catalogue note: it was not unusal for foreigners who lived in China to be enamoured with items of Chinese dress from the Qing Dynasty.
