A set of three Aubusson tapestry window pelmets and chutes, Requillart, Roussel & Chocqueel, 1864, each representing a different fable by La Fontaine, the first depicting a scene of a male bird catcher, titled 'L'Oiseleur, L'Autour et L'Alouette', the second depicting a scene of a tortoise suspended on a stick between two ducks, titled 'La Tortue et les deux Canards', the third depicting a scene of jay birds clutching peacock feathers, titled 'La Geai pare des plumes du Paon', the Fables of Jean De La Fontaine, 450 x 280 cm approximately (each varying in size). Provenance: John Edward Cornwallis Rous, 2nd Earl of Stradbroke (1794-1886), These tapestry pelmets and chutes were supplied to the 2nd Earl of Stradbroke in 1864.
