Model of the gunboat 'Firefly' built in the 1950's by a crew member who served on the Firefly during World War I. Ship Details; Fly-class, river gunboat, height 94 cm, length 177 cm & width 28 cm A river gunboat, Fly-class, built in Yarrow Scotland 1915 in sections, assembled in Abadan Iraq starting 8/15, entered service 11/15, 9 1/2kts, c1-4/1-12pdr/1-6pdr, 22 crew, Lt Christopher Eddies. Hit in the boiler by a shell, entirely disabled, 1 crew lost. Comet managed to take her in tow but both went hard aground. Firefly was then captured by Turk and put back into service as Suleiman Pak, in action and recaptured 26/2/17 by Tarantula, but was later sunk while on the Euphrates river in 1924.
