The Shepherdess of the Alps circa 1790-1,800 English, silk and wool on silk with painted faces. From a play in verse by JF Marmontel Paris 1767, the scene shows Adelaide hearing Fortrose disguised as a shepherd playing his claranet, height 33 cm, width 28 cm. Ex Janet Niven antiques.
