Edward William Godwin 'Art Cabinet' English Aesthetic movement cabinet in the Japanese style, mahogany and ivory with sabre brass legs, circa 1880s, most likely manufactured by William Watt, London. This Godwin design was detailed and illustrated in 'The Building News' May 10th, 1886 and references an older design from 1877, the 'Four Seasons Cabinet' (now in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London) which was believed to have been exhibited at the William Watt stand at the 1878 Exposition Universelle in Paris. the design is also illustrated in 'The Secular Furniture of E.W. Godwin' by Susan Weber Soros, 198 cm high, 122 cm wide, 45 cm deep
