A large and Important Australian silver Cricket Trophy, by Henry Young & Company, circa 1884 of urn form very similar to 'the Ashes' trophy, decorated throughout with fern and foliate motifs with squared classical scroll and acanthus decorated handles to the shoulders, the stem applied with two sets of silver gilt stumps with bat and ball, the whole surmounted by a silver gilt batsman presenting at the stumps; inscribed to one side 'The Melbourne Sports Depot, Junior Club Cricket Trophy, Season, 1884 & 1885., the obverse further inscribed 'Won by the Dudgeon & Arnell C.C., presented by the Members to J. Aitken Esq, President, 29th May, 1885', raised on a circular stepped wooden socle, stamped 'sterling, H. Young & Comp, silver'
