Byrd is one of the most highly decorated officers in the History of the United Nates Navy, and was a Recipient of the Medal of Honor also a Pioneering Explorer, Byrd Claimed to Have been the first Aviator to fly to both the north and south poles, and Partipated in Antarctic Expeditions.
