A historically important set of four inscribed and crested George IV sterling silver lidded entree dishes from the Lonsdale Silver Presentation, I&I Waterhouse & Co., Sheffield, circa 1828, each with a shallow rectangular body engraved to the front and back with the Lonsdale family Stag insignia, beneath a fitted domed cover inscribed to the front 'Presented / to William Lonsdale Esqre. / By Certain Inhabitants / of the Town & District of / Melbourne, Port Phillip, / in Testimony of Their high Regard / For His Public and Private Character, / A.D. 1839', the reverse bearing the Lonsdale family coat of arms with the motto 'Bold As Virtue', the body and cover of each entree dish cast with shell and leaf borders, beneath a removable oak branch, acorn and oak leaf cast handle, approximately 8,376 gms total weight of silver, 31 cm wide, 14 cm high, 24.5 cm deep.
