A historically important inscribed and crested Victorian sterling silver and parcel gilt four piece tea and coffee service from the Lonsdale Silver Presentation, William Mann, London, circa 1841 and J Wrangham & William Moulson, London, circa 1839, the melon-form teapot and fluted tapering coffee pot inscribed 'Presented / To / William Lonsdale Esq. / by certain Inhabitants / of the / Town & District of / Melbourne, / Port Phillip, / in Testimony of / Their High Regard / for His Public & Private / Character, / A.D 1839', bearing the Lonsdale family Stag crest to the opposing side, each with a leaf capped scroll handle with ivory and horn fillets, beneath a hinged domed cover with an apple finial, the creamer and sugar vessel of compressed fluted form, each with a gilt wash interior, inscribed to both sides with the Lonsdale family Stag crest, flanked by solid cast leaf capped scroll handles, raised on acanthus leaf cast scroll feet, the creamer hallmarked for J Wrangham & William Moulson, London, circa 1839, approximately 2,548 gms total weight, the teapot 14 cm high, the coffee pot 28 cm high, the creamer 11 cm high, the sugar vessel 12 cm high.
