Chinese Guanyin statue Ming Dynasty period, seated Buddhist image of Guanyin the bodhisattva of compassion, wood, gesso and polychrome, This form is known, as the water moon Guanyin, it depicts the bodhisattva seated in the Royal ease posture on a rock in a grotto, the right hand is raised in contemplation of the reflection, of the moon in the sea and realising the illusory character of existence, the bodhisattva is elaborately clothed in robes, scarves and jewels with a high chignon and Crown, which has an image of Amitabha Buddha in the centre, prayer box to back and glass eyes, height 131 cm
