A late 19th century French white marble mantel clock, the movement stamped Gay Vicarino & Co. Paris, in a simple domed case, with a 5 inch enamel dial with Roman numerals and visible anchor escapement and steel moon hands to the twin barrel movement striking on a bell, mounted on a plinth base with an applied silver plaque inscribed 'Germanton Pastoral & Agricultural Soc 1886 / Champion Prize / Gift of / Mess Goldsbrough & Co Limited / Best Ram, any age, grass fed, bred by Exhibitor / Gained by Hon James Balfour M.L.C Round Hill N.S.W., 25 cm wide, 17 cm deep, 35.5 cm high. Provenance: Presented to James Balfour (1830-1913) in 1886, thence by descent to the present owner.
