A George IV mahogany breakfront secretaire bookcase, the moulded cornice above four arched glazed doors enclosing four shelves above a central secretaire drawer enclosing an arrangement of satinwood veneered drawers and pigeon holes flanked by a pair of deep drawers and above four short cupboard doors with arched panels, raised on a plinth base, 238 cm wide, 55 cm deep, 239 cm high. Note: This piece displays a number unusual and unique locks. There is an early, un-numbered Bramah lock in the upper centre doors, a pair of keyed-alike Turner split bolt locks to the outer upper doors and a fabulous signed patent Robt. Kemp curtained lock in the fall section of the escritoire drawer. All these locks appear to have original keys, as do the backspring locks in the outer drawers.
