A U.S. 19th century Ames model 1832 foot artillery short sword, resembling a Roman gladiator sword and used as the last line of defence for artillerymen, brass handle with eagle cast to the pommel, cast fish scales for the grip, two Fullers to the upper blade, a single below, the original leather scabbard with brass fittings. Blade length 48.5 cm. Produced 1832-1862.
