Description:
An unusual mixed hardwood display stand, 19th/20th century, constructed with one square and one rectangular display surface on two levels, all resting on corner legs some terminating in angular scrolls, the four outer corner legs joined by side stretchers and ending in pad feet, the shaped aprons carved with friezes of linked angular scrolls and archaistic kui dragons and bat motifs, the wood of attractive colour and grain, 40 cm high, 76.5 cm wide, 51.5 cm deep. Provenance: Geway Trading Co. Ltd., Hong Kong, circa 1991. Compare with a smaller wood display stand of this style dated to the Qing dynasty, sold Sotheby's, Hong Kong, 2 June 2016, lot 4.
