Victoria - District of Ballarat: December 1898 Water-Right Regulations Licence issued in favour of the 'New Mariner Gold Mining Company' who were 'carrying on mining operations at Steiglitz' granting permission to 'cut construct and use the race and reservoir....on the said plan to take and divert water...not to exceed twenty thousand gallons per diem'.....[for fifteen years] for 'the yearly sum of six pounds sterling...' A hand-drawn map on the second page shows the area of the permit, which is signed on the front by Thomas, Baron Brassey, Governor of Victoria 1895-1900.
