La Trobe, Charles Joseph, Lieutenant Governor of Victoria (1801-1875) signature and seal on vellum Land Grant by Purchase dated 9th February 1854. The land, 156 acres in the County of Bourke, Parish of Tarrneit was sold for £273 to James Watson and Walter Craig. The area was the subject of tremendous land speculation in the aftermath of the discovery of gold in nearby areas.
