Australia's team was comprised of 247 competitors and 69 officials. In all, 55 teams sent 2074 athletes to compete in 213 events. Some of Australia's stars included Russell Butler, Craig Rogerson & Jenny Donnet in the diving; Andrew Baildon, Martin Roberts, Ian Brown & Glen Housman in the pool; and the female swimmers, Lisa Curry-Kenny, Hayley Lewis, Nicole Livingstone & Karin van Wirdum - the women securing 12 of the possible 16 in the swimming pool. Jane Flemming won the long jump and the Heptathlon, while Lisa Martin won the marathon and Kerry Saxby the 10k walk. Phil Adams won 3 golds in the pistol shooting.
