1881 Steeplechase Trophy: A 22ct gold mounted claret jug, unmarked, the collar engraved with hounds and arabesques between two beaded bands, cartouche engraved 'The Melbourne Hunt Club Steeple Chase, October 1st 1881 - Won by Young Deceiver, the property of John E.Spicer, Esq', the lid with finial modelled as a horse, the flared trumpet shaped clear glass body with cut and ribbed pattern. By Edward Fischer of Geelong (1828-1911). The 1881 annual Steeple Chase, held at Flemington, was run twice; the first race was declared void as the first two horses missed the last jump. Young Deceiver won the restarted race with the time of 6 minutes. 29 cm high
