A George III bracket clock, Joseph Sargent, circa 1795, mahogany bell top case with gilt brass handle to centre of bell top, glazed panels to the sides, brass trimmed front door and gilt brass caryatids to front corners of the case. The moulded base raised on gilt brass bracket feet. The 16.5 cm wide brass dial with pierced blue steel hands, pierced spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with a recessed bell-shaped cartouche signed Jos Sargent Jermyn Street St James above the centre arbour. The centre finely matted with calendar aperture. Alarm disc to the centre arbour. Eight day, bell striking, twin fusee movement with verge escapement and rack striking to hours and quarters, ting tang on two bells. Pull activated alarm mechanism, 53 cm high, 30 cm wide, 19 cm deep
