A George I bracket clock, W. Webster, Exchange Alley, London, circa 1720, the ebonised inverted bell top case with brass handle, brass trimmed glazed side panels and door. The case on a moulded base with pad feet. The brass break arch dial with well pierced blue steel hands and strike silent in the arch. Crown and scepter spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring. Silver cartouche below centre arbour signed W. Webster - Exchange Alley - London. The rectangular backplate elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls and signed on a reserve W. Webster - Exchange Alley - London. Twin fusee, eight day going bell striking movement with verge escapement. Triple repeat mechanism to strike, 37 cm high, 19 cm wide, 15 cm deep.
