Etienne Lenoir (French, 1675-1739), Louis XV mantel clock inlaid with gilded-brass and tortoiseshell, c. 1743, the case surmounted by a putti fighting a mythical beast, the ormolu and enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, signed 'E. Lenoir a Paris', with half and full hour striking on bell, movement signed, with key and pendulum, height 58 cm. A similar clock illustrated in 'La Pendule Francaise', Tardy, p. 131, fig. 2
