Her preferred themes were domestic animals and people, with an intense naturalistic portrayal of movements. In her teenage years she has studied animal anatomy with help from a local veterinarian who gave her animal carcasses to study. In 1988, Anne Marie received a scholarship to the Art School for Women upon its foundation as part of the Danish Academy of fine arts.
