The 1873 Sunbury Cup Australian silver trophy for greyhound coursing, attributed to Edward Fischer (1828-1911), the ovoid vessel in the Etruscan manner, rising to a waisted neck, flanked by foliate angular scroll handles chased and engraved with scenes after Frederick Woodhouse, to the front depicting a greyhound standing amongst a rocky terrain, on a stippled ground, to the reverse a further scene depicting greyhounds in pursuit of a hare, inscribed to the neck 'Nicodemus.' above 'Winner of the Sunbury Cup / being the first run for in the Colony / owned and bred by Frederick Row / 1873', raised on a stepped circular foot engraved with a Greek-key border, unmarked but assayed as sterling silver. trophy 27 cm high, 35.5 cm high including the base.
