A Georgian mahogany secretaire / desk with a rolltop, banded inlay on fluted legs, 107 cm high by 101 cm wide, and 69 cm deep. Provenance: Paper label in one drawer reads 'this secretary stood formally in the breakfast room at Lords, Sheldwich in Tavensham, Kent, and belonged to the owner of that estate, John Hilton Esq. Grandfather of the rev'd Arthur Demie Hilton. Initialled A.D.H. 1865.
