Crawford, James Coutts, Recollections of Travel in New Zealand and Australia, (London, Trubner, 1880, 1st edition), Brown cloth boards with gilt lettering & gilt motif to spine and tekoteko to front board, brown-coated endpapers, frontispiece with tissue guard, xiv + folding colour map + 468pp, illus. Crawford, an ex-naval officer and amateur geologist arrived in Port Nicholson from Sydney in 1839. He acquired land on Miramar Peninsula and was prominent in local affairs. In 1862 he undertook a geological survey of the province.
