Elizabeth (Bessie) Corfield Important archive and journals. Sister Bessie as she was known was from Nowra in N.S.W. and a member of the Waterhouse family. Like many members of the family she committed to life as a missionary. Leaving Nowra in 1904 to take up a post on Kiriwina in the Trobriand Islands east of Papua New Guinea. A fascinating insight into life on the island contained within five hand written diary journals with daily entries for 1906 and 1907. Together with albumen photographs, autograph album sent to Bessie from home, news clippings of Bessie and a rare foolscap booklet 'Grammar Of The Kiriwina Dialect And Kiriwina Vocabulary' by Rev.
