A large rare Zushi shrine, eight attendants below the seated deity, Japan, Edo period [1603-1868], the black lacquer case with a gilt interior fitted with chairs & platforms & two deity sitting side by side, two guardians then another two protectors with four Kannon each with a halo, standing, looking away from the exalted throne, with tendrils & bells hanging from the domed ceiling with engraved metal fittings, condition: Evidence of incense smoke patination, in good condition with minor chips to lacquer. Provenance: Acquired in Japan in the 1990s from a private collector, height 70 cm, width 60 cm, depth 40 cm
