A large Kutani Ware vase Hashida Yosaburou, 20th century, classic Aka-e Kinran de (red and gold decoration) ovoid form porcelain with elaborate background design of blossoms, key pattern and overall circular webbing. Two main cartouches with gold overglaze borders depicting a party of sages as they admire calligraphy, the reverse depicting a classic Sansui or mountain and Waterfalls scene with misty clouds, rock formations in gold and pagodas amongst the hills. Bands of stylised flowers to the foot. Signed Kutani Dokai Hashida Yosaburou, notes. Hashida Yosaburou is considered a master of 20th century Kutani and belongs to the Doukai (new direction) school.
