Tizio lamp designed by Richard Sapper for Artemide (working), Reissue. The Tizio is a design classic, with the first version released in 1972. Using a sensitive counterweight system, the adjustable arm of the lamp can be manipulated into almost any position, allowing the user to direct the light source exactly where it is needed most. The arms themselves conduct electricity to the bulb, eliminating the need for extraneous wires and facilitating the precise balance of the arm, Thermoplastic, steel, aluminum, zinc, engraved 'R Sapper NZ98.0018/0100. Length 76.5 cm, I designed Tizio because I could not find a suitable work lamp for my own desk. I wanted a small head and long arms, I didn't want to have to clamp the lamp to the desk because it's awkward. And I wanted to be able to move the lamp it easily. The result is my ultimate dream task lamp, the Tizio'. - Richard Sapper
