A collection of approximately thirteen Arrows, assorted lengths, Kukukuku people, Papua New Guinea, the Estate of Mr Neville Bourne. Provenance: Neville Bourne went to New Guinea in 1967 as a Missionary/Linguist for the Baptist church, after a time in Okapa via Goroka he settled in the village of Umba in 1970 with an Angan (Kukukuku) tribal group and over a period of 30 years he translated books of the bible into the local Safeyoka/tribe language and worked with the local people, including founding schools and building an airstrip. From 1978 to 1987 Neville was elected as Member of Papua New Guinea National Parliament for Menyamya open. in 1982 he was Minister for Transport, Minister for Primary Industry and Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources. Mr Bourne died in 2004.
