A fine Tibetan silver ritual ewer, late 19th century, one cartouche well repousse on each side, one with 'the four companions' and the other with 'the wise old man', body well engraved with foliated scrolls, the handle cast in the form of an elongated dragon and the spout emerges from a makara with a coral inlaid on the top, the lid circled with lotus petals and capped with 'wish-fulfilling jewels, 25.5 cm high, This ritual silver ewer would have formed part of a ritual ceremonial libation set. It would likely have been used in altar rituals to make offerings of sacred water or wine.
