An antique bronze Southeast-Asian frog drum (rain drum), the circular mildly dished top on a wide waisted and flared base, all with fine ribbed and geometrically banded cast relief detail, star centre to the top, four raised and stylised animal forms to the rim, the sides with conforming lug handles and decoration. Good old green patina. Note: Dating as far back as 1000B.C., the Dong Son culture of Vietnam was arguably the earliest civilisation in Southeast Asia to enter the Bronze Age.
