[Charles Dickens] a complete thirty-four volume Gadshill edition set of the works of Charles Dickens [1897-99], pub. Chapman and Hall, London, bound by Bickers and Son, Leicester square, with black and white illustrations [some behind protective papers], leather and cloth bound, stamped with gilt writing and decoration to each spine, marbled endpapers. Enscribed 'Drawing room case 61' to each, and in the first volume 'To Pauline from Jack,' Xmas 1899', condition: fading to the brown leather, some yellowing and very slight foxing to papers, very readable and excellent condition considering age. Provenance: This set was given to Pauline Blanche (Tete) McGaw by her husband Jack Thorburn McGaw for Christmas 1899, and was kept in the drawing room of the McGaw family Manor in St Leonard's Forest, Sussex
