The 1938 team did not have an official Silver Fern tie. We had a black tie with white stripes. Bill had toured England with the 1937 cricket team and received 3 or 4 of these ties for that trip...' '.... World War broke out near the end of 1939 Bill Carson like thousands of other joined the 2 NZEF, That was the end of big cricket and big rugby for Bill. Major W.N.
