A Chinese red lacquered sewing table, Canton, second quarter 19th century, the octagonal work box painted with figures and pagodas in a landscape within a border of dragons, the interior fitted with compartments and bone and ivory implements, above a later silk covered basket, all supported by four upswept arms from a turned pedestal, triform base and hairy paw feet, 83.5 cm high, 47.5 cm wide, 46 cm deep.
