An Anglo-Indian padouk and ebonised sofa table, Coromandel Coast, second half 19th century, the serpentine top richly carved in low relief with a dense foliate surround, figures and a leaf tip border, centred by a vignette depicting Vishnu resting on Ananta-Shesha with his holy wife, Laksmi, kneeling at his feet, above an ebonised lower section of conforming foliate design, with dual supports enlivened by eagle terminals, united by a cross stretcher, raised on four scroll supports, 76 cm high, 107 cm wide, 60.5 cm deep
