A painted pottery figure of an equestrienne Tang dynasty, the rider sitting upright with left hand poised as if to tug at the reins, wearing a long robe falling in folds with long slender sleeves, the hair drawn up into an elaborate coiffure, the horse standing four square, its head held forward with ears pricked, traces of white slip and coloured pigments and some earth adhering, 41 cm high.
