A pair of lacquered wood covered jars and stands, 19th/20th century, each jar of ovoid form, the sides painted and gilt on the dark green ground with groups of figures variously occupied in a continuous landscape setting, interspersed with gilt character panels, the cover with carved borders around a lion knop, the reddish lacquered circular stand supported on four cabriole legs with scroll feet, surmounted by two side supports joined below the scroll terminals and set with a metal hanging loop, 94 cm high overall.
